WRITE ME THE SELF

WRITE ME THE SELF is a 2025 self-portrait in both visual and written aspects:

​

- a videographic recording of an autobiographical free-writing exercise

- self-portraits during and after the process of body-writing

- the representation of the self through the representation of the other in photography​​

Intended as a performance of Photoliterature bringing together photography, videography, object-making and writing, the development process of this project is transforming life writing into live writing.

 

Using different modalities of narration creates a form of plurilingualism: photography, videography and writing as languages of their own, as well as French and English. The creation process is weaving a narrative together within videography and photography, however the final product deconstructs the same narratives, and the representation of a fragmented self appears through the destruction of the narrative paths and the appropriation of a story by someone else.
